What to expect
Werk In Progress - Open Mic Night at The Birdcage in Kemptown, Brighton — Thursday 10th September 2026, from 7.30pm. Got a joke that’s almost ready? 🎭 A song you’ve been dying to sing? 🎶 A drag number that needs its first outing? 👠 A poem, a story, a spoken word piece, or something wonderfully weird? 🌈 We’re launching Werk In Progress – our brand new queer open mic night, created to give LGBTQ+ performers a safe, supportive space to try new material, build confidence and find their audience. Whether you’re a seasoned performer trying something new or stepping onto a stage for the very first time, we’d love to hear from you. 💌 Want to take part? Slide into our DMs or email hello@birdcagebar.com and tell us a little about yourself and what you’d like to perform. The stage is waiting. The mic is on. Now come and WERK. 💖 Free entry — just turn up. The Birdcage, 11–12 Marine Parade, Kemptown, Brighton BN2 1TL — a few minutes' walk from Brighton seafront and the Pier.
